Tournament Rules

How it works

A season lasts approximately 3 to 4 months, with the aim of 2 seasons per year. Each season consists of :

  • 8 satellite tournaments
  • 1 final tournament

Satellite tournaments

Format and rules apply to each satellite.

Tournaments hosted on Community.Gaming (CG) for season #1:

  • 128 slots per satellite, Free registration
  • First Come First Serve policy with waiting list
  • Swiss Round format, 7 rounds (allow ±5 hours)

Two decks to be validated to win the BO3, with different elements + different SA
When you win a round with a deck, you must change your deck, elements and SA, for the following rounds. If you reuse an SA or an element that has already been validated, the round will be considered lost.
In case of a round loss, you can either keep the same deck or switch to any other deck that does not use an SA or element already validated in this round.

In case of a draw during a BO3:

  • If a draw occurs in Game 1: Each player is granted 1 win. For example, if the score was 0-0, it becomes 1-1. The player who wins Game 2 then wins the BO3 with a final score of 2-1.

  • If a draw occurs in Game 2, with the score at 1-0: Each player is granted 1 win. The player who won Game 1 is then declared the winner of the BO3 with a final score of 2-1.

  • If a draw occurs in Game 2, with the score at 1-1 (after a draw in Game 1): The score remains 1-1. A Game 3 will be played to determine the winner of the BO3.

  • If a draw occurs in Game 3 (with the score at 1-1): The win is awarded to the player who plays faster.

🚨👉The first player for the first game of the BO is defined by a coin flip, refer to our [Community Gaming tutorial] for more details on this.

The winner of toss :

  • create and start J1 for first game
  • second game, J2 start
  • third game is random

Statics cards are authorised for the satellite tournaments.

Check-in 30 minutes before the tournament on CG and Discord

Late penalties:

  • 10 minutes to show up from the begin of the round, otherwise 1-0
  • if absent after 15 minutes, loss by absence for the round (but not disqualified)
  • if 2 losses by absence => disqualified

Mandatory presence on the Amber League discord, with the ability to identify oneself by voice if necessary.

Gran Final

32 spots only upon selection. Will be invited to take part in the final tournament of the season the followings :

  • the winners (top 1) of each satellite tournament
  • the 24 best players in the overall individual rankings after the last satellite of the season (excluding satellite winners).

The Gran Final is reserved for Flex & NFT cards -> static cards are prohibited

The final takes place in 2 phases:

  • Phase 1: Swiss 5 rounds, defines a top 8 for Phase 2
  • Phase 2: direct elimination in BO5 (No loose bracket) +  third-place play-off

Rules are identical to satellites.

Matchmaking for Phase 2 will be in the traditional championship format: the top 1 from Phase 1 plays the top 8 (the last qualifier for Phase 2), the top2 player plays the top7 player, and so on.

Rankings

Individual rankings

At each satellite tournament, the competitors score points according to their ranking as follows:

  • Player in 7W-0L : 30pts
  • Players in 6W-1L: 20pts then -1pt per player in order of ranking
  • Players in 5W-2L: 8pts then -1pt per group of 4 players
  • Players in 4W-3L: 1pt

In the case of a tournament where all 128 players have played their matches, it gives the following breakdown:

(in this example: 1 player in 7-0; 7 players in 6-1; 21 players in 5-2; 35 players in 4-3 and vice versa)

The final individual ranking is calculated by adding up the points obtained from a player’s 4 best performances over the 8 tournaments of the season. It is therefore not necessary to take part in all the satellites to be ranked in the championship and qualify for the grand final.

In the event of a tie in the final ranking, players will be separated according to their positions in the various satellites (most top2s, top3s, etc). If both players have exactly the same results, then the first to have achieved the best performance will be ranked higher.

Players disqualified for any reason (absence, tardiness, cheating, withdrawal, or referee decision) are considered out of the rankings and therefore will not receive individual points (and consequently Guild points), nor any other rewards from the satellite in question.

Guild ranking

For each satellite tournament, players could declare the guild they wish to defend when they register on CG. No limit on the number of players per guild.

For each satellites, only the top 2 players in each guild will score points for their guild: their guild scores the sum of their individual points for that satellite. The Gran final results are not taking into consideration in the guild ranking.

If you don’t have a guild, you can play the collective ranking under the banner [TLS] “The lonely souls”.

A surprise prize will be awarded to the best guild at the end of each season.

Season final

Total cashprize for the final: Secret

IMPORTANT: in order to stimulate the attraction of the competitive scene for new or more casual players, we have set up two systems:

  • An individual reward cap of $1,000 USDC (or equivalent) per regular season, excluding gran finale and collective rewards, excluding any in-game rewards (pack/cards/trisel etc…). In the event that the last reward exceeds the cap, the excess remains for the player’s benefit.
  • In each tournament (satellite & final), prizes will be randomly distributed to 3 participants who are not in the top 8 and have not been disqualified.

Reward payments

The accumulated prize pools will be paid out, on three different occasions:

  • During the week following satellite 4, for prize pools from satellites 1 to 4
  • During the week following satellite 8, for prize pools from satellites 5 to 8
  • The week following the final tournament, for the final tournament rewards

Rewards will mainly be given in USDC, we will send rewards from a Polygon wallet address.
Contact with eligible players will be made exclusively on the official AMBER LEAGUE Discord, via a ticket system.

IMPORTANT / CHEATING: In the event of cheating (multi-accounting, playing for others, win trade, bot, etc.), or failure to comply with the rules of these regulations in a blatantly deceptive manner, any accumulated and unpaid rewards may be cancelled for the player(s) involved, and the player(s) will be banned from all further and ongoing competitions. In concrete terms, a banned player will not be entitled to collect any accumulated rewards, even those previously won in a fair manner.

In this case, the AMBER LEAGUE INITIATIVE committee will put these unpaid rewards back into play for future tournaments or seasons.
